Critical Collapse is a game about survival from ourselves, our own worst enemy! Critical Collapse is a highly complex board game that will not appeal to a very large audience. not because of its complexity but because of what it exposes about us, and that is that we are responsible for the continuation of human survival. What will you do when territories within your own country begin to turn on you because of food and fuel shortages? What will you do when you are the most powerful nation on the planet with only a few minor countries standing in your way to total global domination, but a comet is about to annihilate  all  life unless you can somehow convince the other nations  that you must work together? What will you do when  global warming no longer threatens but is happening, and you are the major cause of it?
Critical Collapse is all this and more. Critical Collapse is where we are today. What will you do?

Below is version 2.27 toying with the concept of using the real world....if this route is taken alot more research will have to be done...still in the air.
Critical Collapse is a prototype for a possible MMO game, the following is just some simple board game mechanics. Here is the latest HTML doc, filled with many spelling errors and typos Critical Collapse HTML DOC also here is an excel spread sheet of the formulas still in development Formulas Here is the latest Vassal Module. Critical Collapse Game ver 2.26 And here is a link to the Vassal Game Engine site Vassal Engine If you would like to be part of other Vassal projects you can visit Vassal Engine Forums and BGDF Vassalengine Forum under Module General Discussion  and BGDF where board game design discussions cover a diverse look into the processes from rule compilation to board manufacturing, you will also be able to find many projects not only this one.
Originally like many of the bookshelf games of yore, the non-digital version of Critical Collapse would have used cardboard die cut pieces, a board, box, etc., but as I came to understand the theme I chose, the idea of traditional mediums made me feel hypocritical. That's when I had to ask myself "Why am I creating this game?" And my answer to myself is "Hope".
